Top 28 things to do and attractions in Garden City (2024)

The Garden City Hotel is a luxurious destination offering elegant accommodations, an indoor pool, and refined dining in a historic setting. With 25,000 square feet of event space, it's an ideal choice for couples seeking a grand wedding venue. The hotel's English Garden sets the stage for ceremonies, followed by co*cktail hours in the dazzling Rotunda and grand receptions in the shimmering Grand Ballroom.

Lovely, comfortable and well appointed classic hotel. The bar & restaurant was quite comfortable for lunch, and the tomato basil soup had a terrific flavor! From first footstep on the property you can expect to be well taken care of at this hotel. The staff are all very well trained, good spirited and helpful. Further, the spa is a must-visit! Had a very relaxing massage with the "soothe" add-on that took care of my aches and then a modern 'hydro facial' that did a great job on my skin! The bed was very comfortable and my room was spacious. Also, I was able to order ahead to have a fruit bowl in my room to take care of snack urges. All in all it was a GREAT stay at a classically beautiful and special hotel in the heart of Garden City, Long Island!

I had my wedding here and everything was IMPECCABLE! You won’t regret staying here or having an event here. They are meticulous with the details. All our guests enjoyed staying here as well. Can’t thank them enough for the great job they did. Get married here. Have a staycation. A wonderful place to enjoy yourself.

Garden City Hotel is a nice place to stay, both for business and leisure. It’s offering a great value for the money, specially comparing to the hotels in the area. This one definitely stands out, offering a luxury feel. Everyone’s very friendly and the whole place is well maintained, inside and also exterior. No wonder it’s been collecting all the rewards and recognitions! I highly recommend specially to those who have a certain standard of expectations when it comes to places like this. It will not disappoint you!

I have never stayed at this hotel but manage to get here a few times a year for various events. The hotel is very easy to access off the main road and along with the valet parking there is plenty of room to self park next to or access the street. The front desk staff and all of the employees that are in the lobby to greet you, open the door l, take your luggage or assist you in anyway. Very accommodating and helpful. had a last minute change for my room and dates and they quickly accommodated without hesitation After hours, they even made sure 1 was able to purchase snacks and things I needed for the room, The room was clean and very Luxury feeling. The Garden City Hotel prioritizes the health & safety of its guests by continuing to follow proper cleaning guidelines.

My newly wed husband and I stayed at the Garden City Hotel the night of our wedding. We couldn’t have asked for more. The room/suite was incredible with a spacious living room with a huge couch, a kitchenette with microwave, coffee, sink, and fridge. The bedroom was cozy and the king size bed was put to good use. The double vanity in the bathroom was a nice touch although there was only one sink (not two). BUT the extra special touch was from the owner of the hotel who left us champagne on ice as well as chocolate covered strawberries. We didn’t venture much into the hotel but I heard from various people that the food is top notch whether it’s in one of the restaurants or room service. The staff was super friendly and helpful as soon as we got there, and a special thanks to Ralph at the front desk. Our wedding was that much more special having stayed here. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

*****FIVE STARS throughout our whole experience at the Garden City Hotel this past weekend!*****My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Saturday night stay and delicious Sunday Brunch the next morning at the Red Salt Room. Our accommodations were excellent...beautiful amenities, spacious room, comfortable bed, exceptional restroom, fantastic view, and extremely pleasant service.Brunch was absolutely DELICIOUS - and SO much food! I particularly enjoyed many items in the salad section made by Chef Angela such as grilled figs with farro, seafood salad, seared tuna, and glazed salmon. The lamb with gnocchi and beef brisket with creamed spinach were excellent, as well as an outstanding seafood station prepared by Chef Sal with all the fresh lobster tails, lobster claws, oysters, and shrimp you could eat. The breakfast items such as French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage were superb. And then we moved on to so many desserts - too many to list. I have to say that their homemade Boston cream donuts are truly THE BEST ever - compared to anyone else's, anywhere. It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite item on the Red Salt Room's Brunch menu, but probably my favorite choice of the whole meal was the out-of-this-world crepes filled with berries and bananas, and topped with fresh whipped cream - all made by Chef Alex. Last but not least, our waiter, Valencia was outstanding!Thank you to everyone at the Garden City Hotel who helped to make our time there so pleasant, delightful, and memorable.

Would give ZERO stars if possible. Have never been treated more poorly at any establishment. Entire staff was extremely rude and acted as if they were superior to every guest.Whoever monitors this page is the most narcissistic and unpleasant person I've ever witnessed. For anyone thinking of booking, think twice. Anyone that leaves anything short of a 5 star review is met with an extreme amount of hostility and they bash your personal character to the point where it makes you want to take down your review as your name is associated with it. Look at anyone that left a 1 or 2 star review. They get harassed by the owner (or whoever manages this page). That's the only reason they keep their high rating. Also, just about anyone who has had their wedding here has a horrible experience, so definitely think twice about staying here. The person who manages this page needs a serious reality check. Would never recommend staying here to anyone. There are plenty of better options where you'll be treated with respect....patiently waiting to be harassed by this person over my experience here. Just know that the customer's experience is much truer than you're made up accusations to bash honest people for how they were treated.

The Garden city Hotel=glamour glitz and bots. Beautiful and elegant but desperately in need of hospitality training for some employees especially the front desk. Attempted to get an early check in around 2:40. Waited in line for approximately 10 minutes while the young female behind the counter tended to another customer. Never once looking up to smile, perhaps apologize for the long wait or assure us she’d be right with us. When she was finally done with the first customer completely turned away to answer a walk up patrons question. She was advised by a bellhop that we had been waiting prior to the woman with the question. Finally when I inquired about early check in she had me fill out pre registration information and said she’d contact me if early check in was possible. We walked out at 2:58 only to realize check in was 3:30pm. Thanks for nothing.Do a better job of hiring professional more hospitable employees. Perhaps scale back on some of the fancy things in the lobby and focus on friendlier receptions with common sense at the front desk.SincerelyTired and exhausted

I was looking forward to staying here as I’ve attended many events and finally had an opportunity to also spend the night. A few hours into my stay I decided to shower. I noticed quickly the tub wasn’t draining well and made a note to give the front desk a heads up that it was probably ready to be snaked when I was checking out. However when the shower handle broke a moment later I realized this was now a serious problem because I couldn’t turn the running water off and I was worried if someone wasn’t able to come up fast the room might flood. Thankfully maintenance was able to respond quickly. However after they arrived I realized I was only in a robe and didn’t have anywhere to dress now that a stranger was working in the bathroom. Thankfully he had to step out for a part so I dressed and went down to the front desk. I politely asked if they had been informed about the plumbing work. This information seemed to surprise and annoy the attendant. I was asked “well how long did they say it would take to fix?” I said not long but it’s getting late, I’m mid-shower and now the bathroom is dirty from tools being on the floor a wet vacuum and work boots. This convinced the attendant to move me but they really seemed annoyed by the situation whereas at a hotel of this caliber especially on such a quiet night I would have expected to be thanked for how polite and understanding I was and to be proactively offered to move. My new room was definitely had wear and tear too.

I absolutely loved everything about this hotel! I was treated like a princess, honestly at a fair price! It was the perfect place to spend for my birthday and the SUGA concert. The staff were so friendly, it was like talking with close friends and family. I really just wanted to recognize Jocelyn. She is such a sweetheart and an amazing front desk staff! She helped me in a very high anxiety time of my life and went above and beyond in her duties. The room was spacious for amazing value. The property was well maintained and it's such a beautiful building in a quiet, safe, perfect spot of New York.

I always have a great time when I come here. The drinks here have to be one of my favorites at this property. It's been a while since I've stayed in the rooms but the rooms are really nice. I've stayed in a few different ones. The suites are the nicest of course. The people here are all really friendly and professional.

A special place, particularly around the holidays. Stunning lobby. The King Bar is a must. Heavy vehicle traffic at check in is handled professionally by a crack staff. Highly recommend. Not sure about the $110 Sunday brunch though...😎

Perfection personified. Very nice looking place , rooms nice. Bed comfortable. Everything clean. The but comes from the fact that the Bathroom has no vanity and for the price should of had more towels. We checked in late and we didn't want to call for extra. Also, why is it that hotels forget about tea drinkers and only supply coffee. The cafe closes early so couldn't get any

Worked with Carla to set up a block for our wedding. She was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, and our guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Services were top notch and, on several occasions, we found ourselves casually relaxing with our guests in the beautiful lobby and King Bar. Beyond the hotel, guests appreciated the close proximity to cafes/restaurants on Seventh Street and also easy access to the city via the LIRR.

We booked one of there “best” suites on Sunday night and the room was so disappointing. The only things I liked about the room, was that it was clean and that the bed was comfortable.Otherwise I was disappointed that the only suites they offer have just one bathroom and one sink.I had to use the kitchenette sink to brush My teeth in order for us to get ready at the same time.I tried to order 2 connecting suites (on multiple occasions) so that we could enjoy having more space and a second bathroom, but the receptionist couldn’t accommodate that. This seems to be an ongoing concern in most Nassau County Hotels. The bathroom was also in desperate need of upgrades, it looks and feels like a motel with plain white tiles and shower curtain. The space is not small, however the door, toilet and shower are awkwardly crammed together and there is wasted space elsewhere.Ultimately, the Garden City Hotel is not a place for luxury sleeping accommodations. We ended up leaving and driving all the way to Gurneys Inn in Montauk, where we enjoyed a 2 bedroom and 3 full bathroom bungalow instead.I hope that the Garden City Hotel will consider upgrading their suites in the near future. The rest of the hotel is nice.

From the second we pulled up to the hotel, to the second we left we, received impeccable service. Jong took our bags and was incredibly kind, informative, and genuinely nice to speak with. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are stunning. (They should upgrade their shower heads to match the bathroom). Check out and check in was a breeze and we cannot wait to return.

It turned out to be a great night

I initially planned to write this review without reading others, but I'm glad I checked them out first. Instead of accepting criticism gracefully, Garden City Hotel responds arrogantly to every review, urging readers to disregard them. They argue that any negative experience is a one-off, often blaming it on the Cricket World Cup. This suggests that every time there's a VIP at the hotel, the treatment of other guests suffers, which should be considered in all reviews. They boast about their "150 years of excellence," but why isn't this excellence evident every time if they're truly that good? I humbly ask everyone reading my review not to disregard it!Note: Before the hotel claims I'm not a registered guest, my dad booked the hotel, and I stayed with him, so I was indeed a registered guest. If this doesn't align with the hotel's review policy, there's nothing more I can say.NOW, MY REVIEW WITH MY EXPERIENCE:Room:I won't criticize what isn't bad. The rooms are not the best, but they aren't the worst either—definitely above average and good. The bathrobes provided by the hotel are heavenly!Coffee Shop:Also really good! Great coffee, loved it! The staff was excellent.Desk Staff:Most of them were nice. Rahat, in particular, was great during the late nights when we stayed up for the cricketers. He was very helpful, providing us with water and being wonderful to talk to.Security:Here's where my problem lies. There were police and hotel staff for security, and this was the worst treatment I've ever received. Before the hotel comments and blames me for the situation or claims I was harassing the cricketers, let me clarify: I understand the need for tight security, but there's no need to be rude to those who do nothing wrong. We were told not to even talk to the cricketers, to ignore them as if they weren't human. I wasn't after a picture or autograph because I've been following the Indian cricket team for three years and already have pictures and autographs from everyone multiple times. The hypocrisy is evident—rigorous security was only for Team India, while the South Africa and Bangladesh teams, also staying there, had no such restrictions. Why? Aren't they VIPs too? This is the worst treatment I've ever experienced, and we've stayed with the cricket team every time in the past three years. This time was the worst. The hotel should stop making excuses and accept responsibility instead of blaming guests. There was also evident racism—only Indians were not allowed to use the lobby, while white guests sat there undisturbed for hours. When I asked the front desk if the lobby was open, they said no, despite white guests clearly using it.Lastly, I advise this hotel not to take common guests when they have VIPs, as they are incapable of handling both. If they do take normal guests, everything, including the lobby and common areas, should remain open. The hotel should be appreciative that the Cricket World Cup is bringing them business, or they might not get any otherwise! They should learn from Conrad Hilton in Florida as the team was residing there as well, and I must say that the Hilton Hotel handled it just perfectly and no guests were harassed and the safety of the cricketers were also maintained!

FANTASTIC experience at the Garden City Hotel. We're here during a VERY, VERY busy period but this team hasn't missed a beat. We have several team members staying here for an event, including families with young children. We also used their conference facilities for an all-day meeting. The service has beenabsolutely exceptional on all fronts. Staff have been extremely friendly, accommodating, and have gone above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The lunch served in the meeting room was wonderful, and we gave them MANY dietary restriction and preferences to consider. This is our second time staying here as a team, and we're so happy to have such a wonderful "base" when everyone is in town. Thank you so much! We don't want to leave... and we can't wait to come back later this summer!

I am a native Nyer who moved and back visiting from NC. Stayed here as the reviews were better than others around. While this was a tad pricer I decided why not. We arrived around 8pm. At first look the property looks really good. There were valets who we asked where to park and they showed us the other side of the building. On entry in the lobby, it's clean, uncluttered and well lit. No musty odors. We got to our room and we were impressed. I had no expectations but was nicely surprised. I am always on the look out for a room not well cleaned. Hair on the pillow or bathroom floor...NOPE. there was none of that. We ordered room service and the bread basket with the olive oil was really good. The fries..were crispy and done well. The room was modern enough, clean. Not a dust in sight. Even in the morning. Bravo. We actually decided we would stay here again. No complaints.

This was my first time staying at the Garden City Hotel, and I'm impressed! The hotel and staff take pride in customer service! The staff is spectacular! The food options are somewhat limited unless you prefer high-end eating. Nevertheless, i highly recommend this facility.

I normally don’t write reviews but with the service and quality that me and my family received from this “hotel” was simply unforgettable. As you can see in the pictures… we found bed bugs on our mattress. When showing the pictures to front desk we literally received the worst customer service the front desk agent John had the worst attitude as if it was our fault their rooms has bed bugs in it. When asking for a refund they did their best not to give it. The location of the hotel was fine just wish it was a different hotel. Service and quality seriously sucked

Great location and clean rooms but accountability is lacking. Asked for towels, none were delivered even though they were to replace ones taken by maid service. Had to call again to request when I returned for the evening. Requested late check out to take a client call at 10:30 that would run an hour. I was told the night before that was not an issue by the front desk and that I had late check out for noon. My meeting was interrupted 3x by calls and knocks on the door as they had no idea I had late check out. Absolutely ridiculous.

Had a one night stay It was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Both restaurants in the hotel are very good. King bar had a wonderful vibe. The red salt room offered many different steak options and the staff lets you know about the dry aging process using the red salt that is showcased throughout the restaurant. All the staff is kind and helpful from the valet to the housekeeping team. There’s a little store in the hotel It offered many grab and go options. I would recommend this hotel 10/10

I am from Long Island originally and always heard such wonderful things about the hotel and their infamous Sunday brunch. So, now a few years removed from LI as a resident, I decided to stay here during a weekend visit this past weekend. Can’t say enough about the high level of service and hospitality. This is the kind of treatment you expect and deserve from a luxury hotel. The property was gorgeous and the rooms were beautiful and spacious. I reserved what seemed like their basic room but it was far from basic, it was very roomy and comfortable. I decided to try the Sunday brunch and they certainly did not disappoint. Their regular menu is also really good as is their King Bar. I had drinks there the first night before heading to bed.I look forward to my next visit and in fact, already booked my next stay! Next time I intend to also check out the spa and fitness center.

Beautiful antique style hotel. The doormen are all so nice. I was always greeted upon entering the hotel. The rooms are so comfy. I appreciated the robe and slippers since I’m never a fan of walking on the floors of hotels. I’ll definitely be back!

Our stay at the hotel was marred by disappointing treatment from the staff. As avid cricket fans, we anticipated a warm welcome, but unfortunately, encountered rudeness and disrespect, particularly from the security team. It's disheartening that the hotel failed to recognize the enthusiasm and respect that cricket fans, especially Indians, bring. Despite spending generously to support our favorite team, we were met with hostility instead of hospitality. However, it was heartening to witness an ex-cricketer advocating for our rights. We hope our feedback prompts the hotel to reevaluate its approach to guest relations, especially during high-profile events like hosting cricket teams. The abrupt cancellation of our reservation following a simple request for a photo opportunity in the hotel café, with the VIP's consent, was deeply frustrating. It seems evident that the hotel failed to uphold the expected standards of hospitality and professionalism. While it's difficult to attribute such treatment solely to racism, it's undeniable that the hotel fell short of meeting the expected standards of a hospitality establishment in the United States. If the hotel intends to host high-profile guests in the future, it must prioritize thorough staff training and reassess its commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests. Our experience underscores the need for the hotel to reevaluate its procedures and customer service approach.

My stay here was fantastic, all of the staff were courteous and thoughtful. The rooms were excellent.I know there are a few of the cricket teams also staying at the hotel so there were extra security and police presence.Even with everything going on, I have never felt more safe. I noticed that some non guest / autograph seekers gave a lot of push back.I felt bad for some of the staff but the hotel manager was extremely patient with everyone that had a problem. The manager Andrew deserves a raise! He handled every aspect with hospitality yet firm and consistent.

Loved the service. Very courteous nice staff. Immaculately clean rooms. Great ambience.Would have given 5 star except for the fact that I asked for a late checkout and the person at the desk refused. We were willing to pay extra. But when we asked for another night stay was not a problem at all. Was very frustrating.

This impeccable 4 Diamond hotel knows how treat customers. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by a courteous valet, and bellman. The look and feel of the lobby sets the mood for your stay. The rooms are clean, well decorated and luxury. I hope to come back soon on a personal visit to enjoy all the amenities.

Title: A Hidden Gem in My Own Backyard - Garden City Hotel!Rating: 5/5 starsReview:Who would have thought that a hotel near my home would become my dream staycation spot? Garden City Hotel has exceeded my expectations in every way!During my recent visit, I met friends who were staying at the hotel and had the chance to experience the hospitality firsthand. We enjoyed the hotel bar and dining area, and I was impressed by the happy atmosphere and comfortable rooms.Even though I wasn't staying at the hotel, I was treated like a valued guest. The patio area is a great spot to relax and unwind, and the working staff, bartenders, and security team are top-notch (except for one undercover security person, but that's a minor quibble).I'm looking forward to coming back and staying at Garden City Hotel soon. It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life without leaving my hometown. I'll be sure to update my review and share more about my experience!
