game starts, runs, but has extreme lag in headset (even though steamvr says frames are generated smoothly) (2025)

1. have a laptop with an rtx 3080, i9-11950H, 32gb ram; headset is quest 2, using airlink. Broadcast is from laptop hotspot, which while not usually recommended, is perfectly stable on my setup with all over PCVR software tested. Laptop is X1 Extreme Gen 4. Fans are manually set to max, laptop is elevated 6" over desk for maximum ventilation.2. Windows 10 install is clean as of a week ago, only installed updates and drivers and tuned for gaming just for PCVR, for everything else I use linux. Using nvidia driver 522.25, which is the latest as of a few days ago from nvidia, and newer than listed as required in FAQ.2. mux switch is active; discrete video card only in bios, as specified in FAQ, and as I have to use already for all other PCVR apps for me3. vr setup is confirmed working very smoothly with steamvr, runs vrchat / steam home /google vr with perfect smooth framerate.4. have disabled afterburner after reading the FAQ, but it did not make a difference for me.5. looking at PC preview, it looks like the frames generate correctly, but what I experience in the headset is less than 1FPS, can't even try to select a menu option from in the headset because lag is so bad (like, 10 seconds of lag before hand or head movement corresponds to actual movement).6. steamvr fps meter stays green, however, the entire time, until app eventually crashes or I close it after giving up.7. I can select options and new game from the pc interface. I tried to reduce settings in options, but no effect. I tried starting a game--it "worked" on the PC, but did not improve experience in headset, where lag was so bad that I never even saw the menu selection happenSomething seems to cause steamVR to choke on the transmission side of things, perhaps? I'm a webXR (on linux) dev, so I'm a pretty technical user and am happy to go pretty deep down the troubleshooting rabbit hole with you.I saw elsewhere that .dmp files were requested if available, and I found 2; however, "Attach images" only allows images, which is unfortunate, as that doesn't allow appending the .dmp, so I have uploading them here:https://www.udrop.com/7qZs/crash_hl2.exe_20221026154926_1.dmphttps://www.udrop.com/7qZt/crash_hl2.exe_20221026210205_1.dmp(file sizes should be 1,132kb and 1,179kb)
